"OK GOOGLE, TELL ME A FACT ABOUT INSPIRING WOMEN"

 THE BRIEF

For International Women’s Day 2019, multinational tech company Google is introducing a new feature for the Google Assistant. Using the current UI, I was asked to curate and create engaging content sourced from the online platform Google Arts & Culture. 

​APPROACH

The idea presented was to source inspiring facts about women in STEM, and present them in a new format through the Google Assistant. Leaning on learnings through user and product testing, I set out to find 20 women. As I advocated for the selection of women to be diverse and not include problematic individuals, we ended up only featuring 16 women in the end. 

 FINAL RESULT

To ensure the content would be easy for users to find, I wrote a prompt starting off with “Hey Google…”. As the character count for this content was longer than it normally would be for the Google Assistant, a key challenge was to ensure the copy contained all the necessary information without cluttering up the screen space. When picking images to include, the goal was to find striking images that also followed copyright rules and fit into the format guidelines.
